- 20,842 new hires were reported in Philadelphia County in the fourth quarter of 2011.
- 4,581 fewer new hires (by place of residence) in Philadelphia County were reported in the fourth quarter of 2011, an 18 percent decrease.
Health Care and Social Assistance, Accommodation and Food Services; Professional and Technical Services, Administrative and Support and Waste Management and Remediation Services were among industries with the most hires.
Top Industries with at least 25 new hires by place of residence above one year-ago levels were:
Construction of Buildings; Performing Arts, Spectator Sports, and Related Industries; Wholesale Electronic Markets and Agents and Brokers; Nonstore Retailers; Transportation Equipment Manufacturing; Amusement, Gambling, and Recreation Industries; Food manufacturing; Couriers and Messengers; Chemical Manufacturing; Hospitals.
Top industries that have new hires below one year-ago levels were:
Social assistance; Administrative and Support Services; Specialty Trade Contractors; Religious, Grantmaking, Civic, Professional, and Similar Organizations; Ambulatory Health Care Services; Educational Services; Food Services and Drinking Places; and Telecommunications.
