THERE WERE 1,526,006 PHILADELPHIANS ACCORDING TO THE 2010 CENSUS.

There were 1,526,006 Philadelphians according to the 2010 Census. This is an increase of 8,456 residents since the last Census in 2000 and a decrease of 59,571 since the 1990 Census. Philadelphia lost population between 1970 and 2000. In 2010 Philadelphia showed an increase of nearly 1 percent in population. About 52 percent of Philadelphia residents are between the ages of 25 and 64 years old - "prime working age". 12 percent of Philadelphians are 65 years old or older. The median age in Philadelphia in 2010 was 33 years old - nearly 7 years younger than the median age for all of Pennsylvanians.
