Life Science Career Alliance
The Life Science Career Alliance (LSCA) is a unique industry and education partnership formed in 2003 by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Workforce Investment Board Collaborative and the Delaware Valley Healthcare Council to coordinate the region’s efforts to deliver this pool of workers. In the years since, LSCA has sought to be a convener of regional leadership of industry, education/training, and public sector stakeholder groups to address life science workforce development issues of mutual concern. LSCA’s rationale for mobilizing and directing its leadership network is to ensure the life science sector in Greater Philadelphia is recognized and continues to contribute economically to the region and:
- All components of the life sciences sector have the educated and trained workforce needed to thrive; the availability of a skilled workforce attracts businesses to the region.
- Workers have access to the information they need to choose and plan careers in the life sciences.
- Students, their parents, and educational counselors understand the breadth of life science career opportunities and know how to prepare for these careers.
- Resources, specifically education and training, are readily available to support life sciences workforce development and meet industry requirements for highly skilled talent.
