ADVANCING OUR ECONOMY THROUGH OUR PEOPLE.

Today's jobs demand complex problem solving skills, skills that many Philadelphians have not yet acquired. If the city develops the skills of its people to support the region's key industries, Philadelphia will be extremely well positioned to compete and prosper in the new economy. The stakes are high; if we do not act now, the city will face increasing challenges in retaining and growing well-paying jobs and attracting businesses.

The Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board, Inc. is uniquely positioned to lead this effort. Founded in 1999, the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that serves as the staff to a volunteer Board appointed by the mayor of Philadelphia. We are experts in all facets of workforce development. We actively surface issues and organize partners to rally support. And, through our role in the governance of the public workforce system, we establish policies and investment strategies to align the skills of the region's workforce to meet the needs of businesses.

Our promise is expertise and guidance in workforce development.

Our vision is a thriving and inclusive regional economy.

Our mission is to advocate and advance an employer-driven opportunity agenda that effectively prepares Philadelphians to compete in the economic mainstream.
